Strong turnout for IC-Europe’s first Virtual Coffee

On September 22nd, IC-Europe hosted its flagship Virtual Coffee session, bringing together senior executives and representatives from around 20 leading European construction companies. The interactive online meeting served as a dynamic platform to outline IC-Europe’s founding vision, ongoing strategic roadmap, and key accomplishments in shaping the future of offsite manufacturing.

A primary focus of the discussion was IC-Europe’s work in strengthening institutional relations with the European Commission. Attendees received an inside update on our formal petition under the Construction Products Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2024/3110) requesting a harmonised European standard (hEN) for 3D volumetric modular construction. This initiative aims to eliminate cross-border trade barriers and establish a single technical language across the European Single Market.

Furthermore, the session highlighted IC-Europe’s active leadership in key European decision-making bodies. As co-chairs of Subgroup 3 in the European Commission’s Housing Task Force (alongside the Austrian Ministry of Innovation) and active contributors to the High Level Construction Forum (HLCF), IC-Europe is ensuring offsite prefabrication remains central to EU housing strategies and the green transition.

Participants engaged in an open exchange regarding the practical challenges of scaling modular systems, driving decarbonisation, and accelerating industrialised building delivery across Member States. IC-Europe continues to serve as the unified European voice connecting manufacturers, developers, technical experts, and public authorities to transform European construction.
