The European Commission has officially launched the European Housing Alliance. This landmark initiative represents the EU’s first-ever dedicated platform for housing cooperation. It aims to strengthen mutual learning and share best practices among Member States, regions, and cities. The ultimate goal is to tackle the housing crisis affecting millions of Europeans.
This new Alliance will help deliver the European Affordable Housing Plan directly on the ground. European Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen, has invited all sector stakeholders to join. The platform will unite housing experts, local leaders, authorities, and tenant and owner representatives.
The Alliance will operate under the principles of multi-level governance, transparency, and felixbility. Its working methods will connect political cooperation with real-world construction needs. By bringing these actors together, the EU intends to turn shared insights into immediate, practical action.
In parallel, the Commission is developing the Pan-European Investment Platform for Housing. This tool will better coordinate existing EU, national, and local financing instruments. While it will not create new EU funds, it will maximize resource efficiency through blended finance to mobilize investment at scale.
The Commission has already launched a dedicated website for the initiative. Industrialized construction stakeholders and interested organizations can now register their interest to become official members.
